Blood oranges

I've always loved food photography.  Maybe it's because it marries two of my favorite things in life - food/cooking and photography?  Here's my attempt at capturing the wonder that is the blood orange.  I love the contrasting colors of the "bloody" pulp against the orange-red skin of the fruit.

I'm not sure which of these is my favorite...thoughts?  Any ideas on how I could improve them?

  1. Oh I love these! The colors are amazing, and the photo is so sharp! I can't pick a favorite, either! Each of them have such great qualities! I really need to learn more about food photography!

  2. I think my mouth just started watering. :) Great shots with beautiful colors. The first one is my fav...the lighting is wonderful with the shadows on one side of the image!

  4. The second one is my fave, but I'm no good at critique so I can't tell you why. :) I don't think I've ever had a blood orange?? So it makes me want to try one! :)

    1. Thank you! In my opinion, blood oranges are better for looking at and photographing rather than eating. ;-) They're a bit more bitter, but they do make an excellent addition to drinks though!

  5. Love the second one! I like how they pop against the blue and the way they are shot.
